Sight Word Test #1
Below you will find the Basic Dolch Sight Word List (Preprimer). All second graders will be tested on these words and will be required to read and spell all of the words on this list with 100% accuracy. The test will remain unannounced to ensure that each child has memorized these words. Everyone is required to pass this initial sight word test by this Friday, August 29, 2008. Please note that the children have been tested on these words in first grade. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding this initial sight word test. We look forward to working with you in the upcoming school year!

Welcome to 2nd Grade!
Welcome to 2nd Grade! I hope you have had an enjoyable summer. It is my pleasure to welcome both you and your child to another school year. I am looking forward to a great year ahead of us.
Please note that Thursday, September 11th is Curriculum Night at 7:00 p.m. At that time I will explain all of the 2nd grade policies and procedures. This is a very informative evening. Until then, please look for any special papers or announcements in the yellow folder labeled “Take – Home Folder” or the yellow notebook labeled “Take – Home Notebook.” These two items are very important and will be the link between home and school on a daily basis. The “Take – Home Folder” will hold any important papers that need to be sent home, such as homework assignments, lunch orders, etc. The “Take – Home Notebook” is where your child will write down their daily homework assignment and any special announcements. I am asking that the folder is checked and notebook is signed each night by a parent. Thank you for your cooperation.
I look forward to meeting you at Open House. However, please do not hesitate to stop in sooner. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at slazich@pennoyerschool.org or give me a call. I am looking forward to a terrific year!
